HIR Wellness Institute is an organization led by survivors and women, dedicated to providing no-cost, culturally relevant mental health and wellness services to Indigenous and marginalized populations. Their mission primarily targets the support of women and girls, while also catering to the needs of men and boys. Many beneficiaries have faced challenges such as sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking, or the impacts of historical trauma. Their care system encompasses therapy, advocacy, and community initiatives, all rooted in Indigenous principles and the CAM™ (Community Activated Medicine) framework. The institute's methodology integrates traditional Indigenous healing with occupational therapy, sound therapy, and art therapy. Programs like S.P.A.C.E. for Kids™ utilize sensory play to aid children in recognizing their emotions and fostering resilience. For older adults, offerings include stretching exercises, home safety advice, and the Peacemaker Massage to enhance overall health. This comprehensive approach addresses the needs of the mind, body, heart, and spirit, facilitating healing across multiple generations. HIR Wellness features distinctive programs that merge cultural traditions with therapeutic services. Story Menders™ employs role-playing games to enable youth to express their emotions and strengthen their self-esteem. The Elders Book Club creates a forum for sharing narratives and processing historical trauma. Initiatives such as Daughters of Tradition and Sons of Tradition emphasize leadership and well-being among Indigenous youth, highlighting the importance of cultural identity and community engagement. By providing services at no charge, HIR Wellness effectively eliminates financial obstacles to accessing mental health care. Additionally, HIR Wellness offers virtual mental health services in line with its dedication to accessible support. Their CAM™ Advanced Training Clinic also functions as a training ground for aspiring mental health practitioners, guaranteeing that care is guided by both professional knowledge and cultural insight. This approach fosters sustainable, community-centered healing.
At this center, clients are offered individualized support for mental health issues. The facility focuses on therapy and customizes treatment plans according to each person's specific requirements, diagnoses, and choices.
At HIR Wellness, we are dedicated to making mental health and wellness services accessible to all individuals within Indigenous and underserved communities. Our commitment to providing care at no cost is rooted in the understanding that financial barriers should never prevent individuals from receiving the support they need. We believe in a holistic approach to healing that honors both traditional Indigenous practices and contemporary therapeutic techniques. While we do not bill insurance directly for our services, we encourage individuals to engage with our programs without concern for financial obligations. We understand that many people have experienced significant trauma that affects their mental health, and we strive to create a safe and welcoming environment where healing can take place. For those who may be interested in exploring other potential coverage options, we are happy to provide information and resources to help navigate available insurance benefits. Our goal is to ensure that everyone has access to the essential mental health services and support they deserve, free from the stress of cost. At HIR Wellness, we prioritize community-based healing and are continually working towards innovative solutions that promote sustainable wellness for all members of our community.
