Hope is Alive (HIA) Ministries adopts a Christ-focused approach to address substance use disorders. This initiative was inspired by the journey of founder Lance Lang, who overcame addiction, and his co-founder wife, Ally, who supported him throughout his recovery process. HIA views addiction as a condition that can be treated, believing deeply in the transformative power of prayer and the strength of community. They emphasize that healing can extend to the entire family, underscore the need to substitute harmful habits with positive ones, acknowledge that experiencing emotions is crucial to recovery, and insist on the presence of hope. In North Carolina, they operate women’s facilities in Hubert and Beaufort, alongside men’s programs in Beaufort and Greenville. The sober living initiative at HIA aims to address and heal the underlying issues contributing to substance abuse, promoting significant life transformations. Their gender-segregated accommodations typically feature shared living spaces with new bedding, dressers, nightstands, lamps, and personal kitchen areas. New residents are encouraged to bring essentials such as a Bible, food and non-alcoholic beverages, clothes hangers, laundry supplies, towels, and a month’s worth of clothing. In addition to housing, HIA also offers a busy schedule for participants. They are required to engage in a local 12-Step program, secure full-time employment in the vicinity, and partake in optional activities like ski trips and retreats. Residents are involved in monthly mentoring sessions, attend a local church, and participate in a scheduled house meeting on Sunday evenings, a Bible study on Monday nights, and a Wednesday group session, all at 6:30 p.m. local time. Their program is tailored to suit individual needs and includes assistance with legal matters if required. Residents also contribute to the community once a month. The program lasts between 12 to 18 months, with most participants completing the full 18 months. The fees are set at $750 for the initial month and $650 for subsequent months. To promote sobriety, Hope is Alive conducts random drug screenings. Located in Oklahoma City, Hope is Alive has expanded its influence nationally through sober living and family therapy services, as well as retreats, a YouVersion Bible reading plan, and collaborations with churches, corporations, and schools. They feature endorsements from Craig Groeschel on their YouTube channel and have partnered with notable figures such as Groeschel, Tim Tebow, Brandon Lake, and Ben Fuller in their retreat initiatives. Regular and special programming details are disseminated through their RADICAL magazine and blog updates. Moreover, Hope is Alive provides complimentary family support via their Finding Hope initiative, where they aim to intentionally foster love, support, and prayer within the community. Meetings are held bi-monthly for durations of 60-90 minutes. Their Hope After Loss counseling service offers guidance to individuals coping with the loss of a loved one due to addiction.
At this facility, the main focus is on addressing substance use issues. They assist individuals in achieving stability, developing strategies to prevent relapse, and linking them to caring support networks.
