Idabel Behavioral Health (Wind Horse Counseling) is situated in the southeastern region of the Choctaw Nation and provides various mental health services for individuals, families, and couples. The center assists with issues such as substance use disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship difficulties. Native Americans holding a CDIB, tribal membership, or letter of descendancy from any federally recognized tribe are generally eligible for services at no cost. Offerings include therapy for all age groups, crisis intervention, and online consultations. The center utilizes a range of therapeutic approaches, including play therapy for children with special needs, veteran peer support, and comprehensive case management services. These methods empower clients to enhance their coping mechanisms, improve interpersonal relationships, and foster overall wellness. By providing diverse therapeutic options, the center guarantees tailored care that meets the distinct needs of each individual. Furthermore, Idabel Behavioral Health engages in specialized initiatives such as the Tribal Opioid Response grant, which supports individuals impacted by opioid use through medication-assisted treatment (MAT) that alleviates withdrawal symptoms and cravings. They also work alongside the Warrior Wellness program to deliver culturally relevant services for Native American veterans, which may include equine therapy, family retreats, and peer support. Generally, services are not extended to non-tribal individuals, with a few limited exceptions.
The rehabilitation center specializes in addressing issues related to substance abuse and mental health. Patients benefit from personalized treatment plans tailored to their specific needs and diagnoses, acquire essential skills for their journey to recovery, and foster new relationships within a healing atmosphere.
Individuals who possess a CDIB card, Membership card, or documentation of descent from a federally recognized Native American tribe are qualified for our services at the center. We welcome various forms of payment including Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, as well as providing options for those who are uninsured.
