Odyssey House of Utah is a non-profit organization focused on substance abuse recovery, operating multiple locations to deliver specialized care for diverse individuals and families. Since 1971, they have been effectively treating addiction alongside co-occurring mental health issues. Recognized as one of the most effective programs in the region, Odyssey House of Utah has received the Best of State award 31 times. They provide residential services tailored for both men and women, specifically catering to single parents with children. Their facilities include housing for single mothers or expectant women and their children, as well as accommodations for single fathers and their kids. The residential programs for single parents prioritize family unity, creating a secure environment where children can rebuild bonds and heal from past traumas while their parents undergo treatment with a team experienced in evidence-based care methods. To ensure personalized care, clients undergo a comprehensive initial evaluation that informs the development of their treatment plans, tailored to each family's particular needs. The treatment team includes certified addiction experts, counselors, mental health professionals, and psychiatric providers who address substance use and accompanying mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, and trauma. Clients participate in structured, trauma-informed therapeutic sessions which include individual, group, and family therapy. During parental treatment, children are cared for by licensed staff, with school-aged children attending a local elementary school during the day and benefiting from daycare services afterward. Odyssey House accommodates families with children ranging from newborns to 11 years old. Typically, clients remain in treatment for about six to nine months, after which they receive ongoing support to help ensure long-term recovery and stability. Their programs emphasize the development of healthy routines, teaching essential life skills such as cooking and housekeeping. Moreover, a key focus is on enhancing parenting skills through educational sessions, vocational training, and physical fitness. Children engage in activities that foster solid, trusting connections with their parents, alongside intensive family therapy that helps establish structure and routines. Odyssey House offers a complete spectrum of care, including outpatient services, sober living arrangements, housing assistance, and a supportive alumni network. Families with multiple caregivers dealing with addiction can take advantage of adult residential programs, while medical care and medication-assisted treatment (MAT) are available through their Martindale Clinic. Their program for fathers with children, founded in 2005, uniquely serves dads and their children in Utah. As the largest comprehensive addiction treatment program in the state, Odyssey House of Utah is dedicated to empowering individuals to heal and create better futures. Their commitment to making treatment accessible has enabled them to provide high-quality, low-cost services. They are accredited by the Joint Commission and accept Medicaid along with many major insurance plans.
