Serenity Lane’s detoxification and residential services are situated in Coburg, Oregon, a community celebrated for its historic charm and small-town essence. The center was established by Tom Kerns, who sought to improve access to addiction treatment services after experiencing the effects of alcoholism in his family at a young age. Serenity Lane welcomes patients every day of the week and offers the potential for same-day admissions. The center caters to individuals dealing with substance use disorders as well as those facing dual diagnoses that involve mental health issues. Upon entering treatment, clients safely withdraw from alcohol and/or drugs through medically supervised detoxification. Following this, a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, physicians, psychiatrists, mental health enthusiasts, and counselors, works together to create personalized treatment plans. Once detox is complete, clients transition into either the day treatment or residential program, which encompasses care planning, stabilization, group and individual therapy, education on substance use disorders, medication management, and a family support initiative. Serenity Lane’s day treatment typically runs 5-7 days each week for 6-8 hours daily, although it can accommodate a minimum of 4 hours per day and a total of 20 hours per week. The program is meticulously organized, dedicating most of each patient’s time to group therapy, alongside breaks for lunch and engaging activities. Individualized treatment plans are developed for all participants, with additional programming available to address specific needs. In this structure, patients are taught to navigate their responsibilities and create schedules that balance their personal and professional commitments. They have the option to stay at Serenity Lane’s residential facility during treatment and can request weekend passes to connect with family or manage obligations. During their residential care period, clients will be paired with a counselor and a “buddy” from their group therapy sessions. Each person will participate in group therapy twice daily, collaborate closely with a patient advocate, and engage in lectures from staff and former patients, along with readings and discussion circles. Personal devices and electronic communication are permitted at the discretion of the patient’s counselor, and alternative phones are provided in common areas for those without personal cell phone access. The average duration of residential treatment is between 30 and 60 days. Extended residential treatment is accessible for individuals at high risk of relapse or those required to complete a specified treatment duration, such as professionals in safety-sensitive occupations and healthcare. The length of stay is tailored to personal needs, focusing on tackling underlying issues like trauma and developing strategies to mitigate the chances of relapse. Serenity Lane features a family program that integrates education, therapy, and support to enhance family relationships and communication. Additionally, they host support groups for families, with visitation times on Sundays from 3-5 PM during residential treatment. The center also provides a program designed for first responders that includes specialized therapies aimed at addressing their unique challenges as they relate to substance use disorders. Their services are trauma-informed, accommodating the specific experiences of first responders. Moreover, comprehensive services are available for healthcare professionals dealing with similar issues, covering evaluation, planning, treatment, case management, and assistance with licensing boards or employers. Through their alumni services, Serenity Lane hosts engaging events, recovery support meetings, service opportunities, and practical guidance for continued growth in recovery, with some offerings available virtually. Additionally, individuals gain access to ongoing recovery support for a year after finishing outpatient treatment. The DUII education and diversion programs at Serenity Lane are recognized by the state of Oregon, ensuring compliance with all court and DMV mandates. They provide DMV-certified diversion, treatment, and education groups. For those required to attend treatment, the “Blue Flag” program allows for tracking of patients’ progress and attendance. This center also extends training for businesses and industries via their employer services program, which includes educating staff on identifying signs of substance abuse, coordinating family and medical leave, and facilitating the reentry of employees into the workplace, among other services.
This facility specializes in the treatment of substance use issues alongside co-existing mental health disorders. Your individualized treatment strategy targets both conditions simultaneously, providing empathetic care for holistic recovery.
