Serenity Lane was established by Tom Kerns, who, motivated by his father's early struggle with alcoholism, aimed to make substance abuse treatment available to everyone. The facility welcomes patients daily, including options for same-day admissions. Serenity Lane Salem features multiple outpatient treatment paths for individuals recovering from substance use issues, those facing co-occurring disorders, and people with mental health challenges alone. The center provides numerous virtual treatment alternatives at all outpatient levels, including online therapy sessions, and offers programs during both the day and evening. Initial screenings, assessments, and care planning are conducted confidentially, along with opportunities for clients to engage in 12-step activities. At Serenity Lane Salem, there are two tiers of outpatient programs delivered in a hybrid model, combining in-person and telehealth sessions. The level II intensive outpatient program (IOP) spans 10 weeks and includes group therapy, individual counseling, and educational components regarding addiction. Group sessions occur three times weekly, each lasting three hours. To accommodate various schedules, Serenity Lane provides morning and evening group options, with family support sessions held on Mondays from 6-9 PM. For the level I outpatient program, attendees participate for 1.5 hours weekly over a period of 12-24 months via telehealth. This track involves individual, family, and group sessions with the lead counselor, focusing on helping participants manage stress and adapting to the challenges of early recovery. There are gender-specific groups available for additional support. Throughout both levels, clients will gain insights into preventing relapse and can be referred to local agencies. Serenity Lane also hosts enjoyable activities, alumni recovery support meetings, volunteer opportunities, and useful resources for enhancing recovery through alumni services, including some virtual options. Additionally, clients can access recovery support for up to two years following their outpatient treatment. The family program at Serenity Lane costs nothing extra and includes education, therapy, and help to mend familial ties and improve communication. They also facilitate support groups for family members. Partners and significant others are welcome to participate in family sessions, which occur on Mondays from 6-9 PM, with opportunities for additional meetings arranged with the client's primary counselor as desired. The DUII education and diversion initiatives at Serenity Lane are recognized by the state of Oregon and satisfy all court and DMV stipulations. These services encompass DMV-certified diversion programs, treatment groups, and educational workshops. For those mandated to attend treatment, a “Blue Flag” program is available, ensuring that patients' attendance and progress can be tracked and reported. The center provides specialized training for businesses and industries through its employer services program. This training includes identifying signs of substance misuse, managing FMLA requests, supporting the reintegration of employees, and more.
