Turning Point New Zealand was established by Peter Dawson in 2013 with the aim of expanding the much-needed detox services in Auckland. Currently, Turning Point provides medical detoxification and residential care in a supportive setting. The detox and rehabilitation plans are customized for each individual, with the duration of stay determined by personal requirements. The center employs a holistic approach that addresses both addiction and mental health concerns, including support for smoking cessation. Counseling is an integral part of the program, helping individuals address the underlying issues related to their addiction, while medications are available to ease withdrawal symptoms. Through its comprehensive recovery strategy, Turning Point targets the fundamental causes of addiction with a team that includes DAPAANZ-registered counselors and therapists. Most staff members have personal experience with recovery, adding a meaningful perspective to the treatment offered. Individual and group sessions utilize the 12-Step philosophy to effectively address the origins of addiction rather than merely its effects. The medical director plays a crucial role in overseeing and adjusting treatment plans to cater to the specific needs of each patient. Residential stays typically range from 28 to over 90 days, where individuals learn strategies for preventing relapse, develop healthy coping mechanisms, follow the 12-Step program, and improve their physical health through nutritious meals and fitness activities. Clients who complete a 28-day program are eligible for the comprehensive 24-month continuing care plan, which includes two weekly meetings on Monday and Friday evenings. Families are welcomed into the recovery process, receiving connections to resources, counseling support, and participation in a weekly 12-Step Friends and Family group. With strong emphasis on relapse prevention and mental health care, patients are equipped with essential tools for their journey towards sustained sobriety. Turning Point New Zealand aims to create a secure and welcoming atmosphere where clients can pursue lasting recovery. The center features gender-specific living spaces, ensuring men and women are accommodated separately. Clients benefit from generous living spaces, expertly prepared meals, and numerous outdoor areas for relaxation and meditation spread over 25 acres. Daily meditation and on-site yoga sessions further enhance the wellness offerings at Turning Point.
The Rehabilitation Center specializes in addressing substance use issues alongside related mental health challenges. Each treatment program is tailored to meet individual needs, ensuring a holistic approach that fosters recovery through empathetic and dedicated care.
