Located in the thoughtfully designed city of New Haven, Yale New Haven Health offers personalized, evidence-supported medical care for children aged 5 and older, teenagers, and adults facing mental health challenges, as well as concurrent substance use disorders. As a partner of the Yale School of Medicine's Department of Psychiatry, their team contributes to advancing mental health treatment through research initiatives and clinical trials. Referrals for mental health services at Yale New Haven Health can be made by primary care providers, either from Yale or other healthcare facilities. Therapeutic services at Yale are available both in-person and through virtual platforms. The Outpatient Psychiatric Services at 425 George Street provides intensive outpatient (IOP) programming. They offer different tracks, including a general IOP, a dual diagnosis track for individuals dealing with both addiction and mental health issues, and a dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) track specifically for those with borderline personality disorder (BPD) and similar conditions. Each of these IOP tracks runs 3 to 4 times per week, for a duration of 4 hours each session. Within each treatment pathway, Yale facilitates focused group sessions addressing bipolar disorder, anxiety, familial challenges, grief, and trauma. Beyond traditional talk therapy, they also offer several biomedical interventions, such as ketamine and esketamine injections, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). Yale New Haven Health utilizes MyChart, a platform by Epic Systems, to keep clients informed with treatment notes throughout and following their care. Clients can also engage with Yale New Haven Health via MyChart to maintain communication.
The Rehabilitation Center provides care for mental health disorders alongside concurrent substance use problems. Here, you will benefit from tailored treatment plans designed to tackle both challenges, promoting comprehensive recovery for the individual.
The hospitals within the Yale New Haven Health System are affiliated with a wide range of significant managed care and government-sponsored health insurance programs throughout the Northeast. However, health plans that cater exclusively to practitioners do not engage in contracts with the hospitals in the Yale New Haven Health System for their services.
